EU-Funded Modernization of Surveillance and Navigation Systems on Albanian Border Police Patrol Vessels
Trusted Partner in Maritime Security: Jakel Electronic’s Radar Installation Project
The European Union Institutions for Police and Migration Development have selected Jakel Electronic for the renewal and modernization of surveillance and navigation equipment onboard patrol vessels operated by the Albanian Border Police.
State-of-the-art FURUNO technology has been installed on seven patrol vessels, ensuring safe navigation in all weather conditions and precise detection of objects up to 48 nautical miles away. The installed radar systems are equipped with ARPA, RezBoost, and Target Analyzer, providing highly accurate detection and tracking of maritime targets.
The Solid-State Pulse Compression detection technology guarantees fast and reliable target acquisition, regardless of sea conditions or vessel speed. Additionally, the new systems are fully integrated with the Furuno Satellite Compass, enhancing positioning accuracy, speed calculation, and directional tracking of both patrol vessels and detected objects.

To complement the modernization efforts, the vessels have been outfitted with certified electronic nautical charts and professional-grade VHF communication systems from ICOM RADIO.
Beyond installation and calibration, Jakel Electronic has also provided comprehensive training for patrol vessel crews, ensuring efficient operation and maximizing the benefits of the newly implemented technology.
